THE TEACHER'S ROOM :

The Bois du Cazier ans the yong :

After being the scene of the greatest catastrophe ever experienced in the Belgian coal industry, the Bois du Cazier is alive again. Its gates once again open onto a pithead where from now on young people, those who will pass on our heritage, are favoured guests.

Imagined for young people in an educational yet playful manner, the discovery of the Bois du Cazier awakens the senses through the media used. A real initiation course bringing the past and the future together through the eyes of today, the visit encourages people to ask questions, against a historical and technical background, about social issues such as safety at work and immigration which, still today, after filling our collective memory, are time and time again matters of current affairs.

Thematic guided visits and interactive discovery workshops invite the young to come and (re)discover a site rich in history and in emotion.
