SEMI-NATURAL PARK :

The mine pithead nestles in a setting of greenery of 26 hectares (55 acres) and is set around three slagheaps. The conversion project has made it possible to convert these spaces into places of discovery and relaxation.

By yourself or accompanied by the nature guide, you will discover the particular flora and fauna which have made these landmarks of our mining past their own.
The first, and oldest, is a flat slagheap, easily accessible, from which you will discover the colliery pithead from a new angle.
The second, where the greenery theatre is installed, is accessible from the avenue of remembrance where 12 different species of trees have been planted, brought here from the countries of origin of the victims of the tragedy of 8th August 1956.

To get to the third slagheap, which is the highest and is conical in shape, you take an astonishing aerial footbridge made of wood and metal. At the top, from the landscape observatory, at an altitude of nearly 250 metres, you will have an incomparable 360° panorama of the whole region.
